Please note: In line with TGA regulations, we cannot provide detailed treatment information online; a consultation with a practitioner is required to assess your skin, discuss options and pricing, and create a personalised treatment plan specifically for you.

In accordance with Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulations, we are unable to provide detailed information about specific treatments online. Such information may be misinterpreted as the promotion of prescription-only (Schedule 4) medications – this is not permitted under TGA guidelines.
For this reason, a consultation with one of our practitioners is required. During your comprehensive consultation, your practitioner will carefully assess your skin, discuss your concerns, and provide education around suitable treatment options. A personalised treatment plan will then be created to address your individual needs.
Treatment costs will vary depending on your tailored plan and will be discussed with you in detail during your consultation

At Youth Lab, we offer consultations for volume and contouring treatments, designed to support facial balance, restore youthful structure, and enhance natural proportions. Every treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation with a qualified medical practitioner.

During this consultation, your practitioner will assess your unique facial anatomy, discuss your concerns, and determine whether a volume restoration or contouring treatment is appropriate for you. Each plan is highly individualised to achieve subtle, harmonious results that respect your natural features.

Understanding Facial Ageing

As part of the natural ageing process, the face undergoes gradual and multi-layered changes that affect its overall volume, structure, and contour.

These changes occur across several levels:

  • Bone Resorption
The facial skeleton provides the foundational support for overlying soft tissue. With age, bone density decreases and the maxilla (mid-face bone) and mandible (jawbone) gradually resorb. This loss of bony projection reduces facial definition and contributes to sagging or flattening, especially around the cheeks, jawline, and temples.

  • Fat Pad Atrophy and Descent
The face contains multiple distinct fat pads that provide youthful fullness and contour. Over time, these fat pads thin and shift downwards due to gravity and ligament laxity. This contributes to hollowing under the eyes, deeper nasolabial folds, and jowling along the jawline.

  • Skin and Connective Tissue Changes
Fibroblast activity slows with age, leading to reduced collagen and elastin production. The skin becomes thinner, drier, and less elastic, while supporting ligaments stretch and weaken. These factors lead to fine lines, folds, and overall loss of firmness.
  • External Factors
Environmental and lifestyle influences such as UV exposure, smoking, stress, and weight fluctuations accelerate these natural processes, impacting both skin quality and volume distribution.

  • Volume restoration and contouring treatments aim to address these underlying structural change, which may enhance facial definition and restore balance while maintaining a natural and refreshed appearance.
Why People Consider Volume Restoration

Many people notice that certain areas of the face appear flatter, less defined, or more hollow over time. Others may have naturally less volume in specific regions and seek improved proportion and balance.
Volume and contouring treatments may be considered to support:

  • Facial balance and symmetry
  • Softening of folds and creases
  • Improved definition in the chin, jawline, and mid-face
  • Subtle enhancement of naturally smaller or flatter features
  • A refreshed, well-supported appearance without surgery
Commonly Treated Areas

Suitability varies by individual, but areas that may benefit from volume restoration include:

  • Mid-face (cheeks and temples)
  • Lips and surrounding areas
  • Chin and jawline
  • Folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Marionette lines and pre-jowl sulcus
  • Hands

FAQs

What does the treatment involve?

Prior to any treatment for facial volume or contouring, a full consultation is required. This will include full clinical photography, skin assessment and review with the doctor or nurse to assess your areas of concern, expectations and have a tailored treatment plan devised.

The treatment itself typically takes 30 to 45 minutes and is performed using sterile, single-use equipment in a clinical setting. Comfort measures such as topical anaesthetic may be offered if needed.

What happens after my treatment?

Following treatment, you will be provided with full aftercare instructions.

Mild swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness may occur and typically resolves within several days. Your practitioner will provide personalised aftercare instructions to support recovery and outcomes.

Follow-up is generally recommended within 4 weeks to review your results and discuss ongoing maintenance or additional sessions.
