  • Assess your skin, facial anatomy or area of concern
  • Discuss treatments that may be appropriate
  • Explain expected outcomes, limitations, risks and downtime
  • Develop an individualised treatment plan
  • Provide an indication of treatment costs
  • Answer any questions you may have

FAQs

Will I have treatment at my consultation?

A consultation is primarily an assessment and treatment-planning appointment. Treatment on the same day should not be assumed and will depend on the treatment being considered, practitioner recommendation, appointment availability and any applicable clinical requirements.

Do I need another consultation if I've visited Youth Lab before?

If it has been more than 12 months since your last visit to Youth Lab, a new consultation may be required before recommencing treatment. This allows your practitioner to review your treatment plan, discuss any new or changing concerns, update your medical history and medications, and ensure your recommendations remain appropriate for you.

A consultation may also be recommended at any time if you are considering a new treatment, your goals have changed, or your practitioner feels a reassessment would be beneficial.

What should I bring to my consultation?

You don’t need to prepare extensively for your consultation, however, it is helpful to come with an understanding of your concerns, goals and what you would like to achieve.

Please be prepared to discuss your medical history, current medications, previous cosmetic or skin treatments, and any relevant skincare products you are currently using. An understanding of your treatment priorities, preferences and budget will also help your practitioner develop a treatment plan that is realistic, considered and tailored to you.

If you have had previous treatments elsewhere, any relevant treatment details or records may also be helpful.

What if I’m an existing dermal client and would like to see a medical practitioner?

At Youth Lab, we offer complimentary cross-referrals between our Dermal Therapists and Cosmetic Registered Nurses. If you are an existing dermal client and would like to explore cosmetic medical treatment options, your practitioner can arrange a referral to one of our Cosmetic Registered Nurses without an additional consultation fee.

Similarly, existing medical clients can be referred to our Dermal team for further skin assessment and treatment planning.

Complimentary cross-referrals are available between Dermal Therapists and Cosmetic Registered Nurses only.

What if I only require a follow-up appointment, not a consultation

At Youth Lab, we offer 15 minute follow-up appointments following a treatment at Youth Lab.

These appointments are for existing clients only and should only be booked with the practitioner who performed your treatment.

  • Consultation – Registered Nurse – Follow Up
  • Consultation – Doctor – Follow Up
  • Consultation – Dermal Therapist – Follow Up

Please note that a follow-up appointment with a Dermal Therapist cannot be booked online.  Please contact the clinic if you require a follow-up appointment with your Dermal Therapist.

What if I want to know the cost of treatment before coming in?

We understand that treatment cost is an important consideration when planning your visit. A guide to pricing for our skin and laser treatments is available on our website to help you understand the potential investment before booking.

For certain cosmetic medical treatments involving prescription-only (Schedule 4) medicines, Australian advertising regulations restrict the information clinics can provide publicly, including treatment pricing and detailed treatment information.

As these treatments require an individual assessment and can only be prescribed following consultation with an appropriately qualified health practitioner, personalised treatment recommendations and associated costs will be discussed with you during your consultation.
