Microneedling

Skin Needling (Dermapen):

After consultation, your session takes ~45–60 minutes. A topical anaesthetic may be applied (if appropriate). Once the skin is cleansed and prepped, the device is passed over the treatment area. You may feel pressure or light prickling. Discomfort is usually minimal and varies by individual and depth settings. Pinpoint bleeding can occur during treatment but should not persist afterwards.

Genius RF Microneedling:

Please arrive ~30 minutes early for cleansing and topical anaesthetic (if appropriate). In select cases and larger areas, the doctor may use local anaesthetic/nerve blocks. The handpiece uses gold-plated needles to deliver RF energy at controlled depths, heating the dermis while keeping the surface cool. You may feel brief heat as the needles pass. Post-treatment, temporary redness and swelling are common. Recovery creams and SPF are applied; Healite II LED or soothing masks may be recommended. There should be no active bleeding post-treatment.

Intensif RF Microneedling:

Process is similar to Genius: topical anaesthetic (if appropriate), controlled RF delivery via gold-plated needles at tailored depths, brief heat sensation, and expected temporary redness/swelling afterwards. Recovery creams and SPF are applied; LED/masks may be recommended. There should be no active bleeding post-treatment.

Skin Needling:

Typically delivered as a series of 4–6 sessions for general rejuvenation (more for extensive sun damage or scarring), spaced 2–4 weeks apart. Collagen synthesis takes time; improvements may continue to evolve for up to 6 months after a course. Maintenance sessions can be scheduled.

Genius RF Microneedling:

Early improvements may be noticed within days, with ongoing collagen remodeling over ~3 months and potentially up to 8 months. We commonly recommend 3–6 treatments every 6–8 weeks, with maintenance as advised. Your clinician will tailor your plan.

Intensif RF Microneedling:

Similar trajectory to Genius: early changes within days, ongoing improvements across ~3 months and potentially up to 8 months. A typical starting course is 3 treatments at 4-weekly intervals, then maintenance as appropriate.

Skin Needling:

Immediate redness and warmth are expected, often described as a “sunburnt” feeling for 24–48 hours. Downtime is generally minimal; some people return to work the next day. Follow your aftercare precisely, avoid picking at dry/peeling skin, protect from sun, and pause active topicals (e.g., vitamin A) until advised.

Genius / Intensif RF:

Expect redness for up to 48 hours (occasionally longer depending on settings) and some warmth/swelling. As most energy is delivered at depth, downtime is usually modest. Detailed aftercare will be provided; following it closely helps comfort and outcomes.

Intensif RF Microneedling:

There may be be redness for up to 48 hours, or possibly longer (this is dependent on the intensity of the treatment).

You can expect the skin to feel warm and flushed with swelling to different degrees. As most of the energy from the Intensif is delivered deep into the skin, there is minimal down time and many can continue with their normal activities.

Full aftercare instructions will be provided after the treatment and strict adherence to these is essential to minimise discomfort and to ensure optimal results and healing.

Skin Needling:

Common, temporary effects include sensitivity, redness, mild swelling, light flaking or crusting. Pinpoint bleeding can occur during treatment. Less common risks include grazing, pustules or infection. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation is uncommon and will be discussed in consultation; higher-risk skin types may require pigment-inhibiting prep.

Not suitable where topical anaesthetic is contraindicated (e.g., pregnancy/breastfeeding if anaesthetic is required), within 6 months of isotretinoin, with active infection/wounds, or over active inflammatory acne lesions. Precautions apply for anticoagulants and smoking.

Genius / Intensif RF:

Downtime varies with intensity. Because the epidermis is largely spared, risks such as PIH/hypopigmentation, burns and scarring are rare, but possible with any energy-based device. Contraindications include pregnancy/breastfeeding, implanted metallic/electronic devices (e.g., pacemakers), active infection/inflammation, and certain medical conditions (e.g., active cancer, significant cardiac disease, immunosuppression). Intensif RF Microneedling:

Downtime varies between individuals but is expected due to the intensity of the treatment.

As the epidermis is spared during the treatment the risks of post inflammatory pigmentation, hypopigmentation, burns and scarring are extremely rare. The treatment is generally safe in most skin types with treatment intensity easily adjusted for higher risk skin.

Radiofrequency cannot be performed in those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have implanted metallic or electronic devices (eg pacemakers), current inflammation or infection and certain medical conditions such as active cancer, heart disease or who are immunosuppressed.
