Introduction To The Hydrafacial

The Hydrafacial is a one of its kind facial rejuvenation procedure with a multitude of benefits for the skin. The Hydrafacial™ uses a new generation of technology which virtually replaces older microdermabrasion methods which have traditionally been more abrasive on the skin. The Hydrafacial™ provides cleaning, exfoliation, extraction and hydration within the one treatment including the Vortex-Fusion™ of antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid.

The end result is a facial that delivers in results, comfort and with no down time. Previously facials were kept in the realm of beauty salons but the Hydrafacial utilises advanced technology to penetrate and protect the skin resulting in long lasting effects with immediate results.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS

Healite II LED

The Healite II LED is the perfect add on treatment to the Hydrafacial. Not only does it add an extra element of relaxation (imagine a snooze under a warm light) but the advanced LED wavelengths can work to boost and enhance the results from the Hydrafacial treatment. The Healite II LED is the most advanced LED system available and has been proven to increase collagen and elastin as well as aid in skin recovery and healing. The result from the HEalite is smoother, healthier skin with improved tone and texture. For those who suffer from acne and congested skin the addition of the blue light (415nm) can work to fight the bacteria causing acne and further improve skin condition following the hydrafacial.

Read more about the healite and the wavelengths available as part of the treatment here.

Collagen Peptide Mask

The addition of firming and hydrating masks can work to enhance the results of the hydrafacial as well as add that extra element of indulgence. We have some exceptional masks in clinic with our favourite being the Societe Rejuvenating Peptide mask. This mask has been developed for cosmetic medical use to calm and moisturise the skin after any type of procedure. It contains powerful anti-ageing peptides and plant based stem cells which work to rejuvenative and relax the skin. It is no ordinary mask and the gel sheets use an innovative delivery system to ensure the ingredients are delivered optimally into the skin after treatment. The result? Cooler, calmer and plumper skin which is even more radiant. Plus you can take the mask home for further use the night of your treatment.

Detoxifying Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is an essential part of the body’s immune system and detoxification process. The facial lymph nodes can become blocked and congested with age, stress, illness, lack of sleep and allergies. Impaired lymphatic drainage can result in under eye swelling and puffiness, dull and lacklustre skin, congestion and impaired immune response. At Youth Lab we perform manual lymphatic drainage using a gentle massage technique prior to performing the hydrafacial. Not only does this treatment feel superb (and relaxing), this gently detoxifying lymphatic drainage can improves the functioning of the facial lymph nodes, aiding in the detoxification of the skin, improving circulation and working to give clearer and healthier looking skin. Adding a detoxifying lymphatic drainage treatment to your Hydrafacial is especially helpful for those who suffer from under eye puffiness, allergies, shift workers or those who have recently travelled.

Dermabuilder Peptide Infusion

The Hydrafacial Dermabuilder peptide complex is one of our most popular add-on treatments. The Dermabuilder is a serum which is incorporated into the Hydrafacial protocol and is specifically formulated to target fine lines, wrinkles and ageing skin. Think of Dermabuilder as a skin strengthening, smoothing and softening powerhouse. The Dermabuilder can help to repair and strengthen collagen and elastin in the skin due to its complex of powerful peptides. This infusion is suitable for all skin types and all ages, not just those who are interested in anti-ageing treatments. We love it for the fine skin around the eyes and mouth as well as anywhere expression wrinkles may be evident.

Medical Strength GlySal peel

We pride ourselves on tailoring our Hydrafacials for every skin type. One of the most important steps in the Hydrafacial it the utilisation of the GlySal peel which helps to break up congestion and dead skin cells. For those who are regular Hydrafacial connoisseurs and want a more intense treatment, or for those who have acne, deep congestion or thickened/oily skin then adding a medical strength GlySal peel is a fantastic way to intensify and strengthen the overall treatment. This peel does not increase any discomfort nor affect the other aspects of the hydrafacial, but it may result in a little bit more down time such as peeling (for a day or two). Aside from a little tingle, it is a fantastic option for those who are after serious results.

frequently asked questions

+ WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

Following a full consultation with one of our Dermal Therapists, your treatment regime and concerns will have been established. From here, the treatment just 30 minutes. You will have your face cleansed, then you relax while the Dermal Therapist performs your Hydrafacial™. The treatment uses light suction and you will not feel any abrasiveness like with a microdermabrasion treatment. There is no discomfort or irritation and your skin will glow and feel tight immediately afterwards. There is no associated down time and you can resume your normal activities afterwards.

At Youth Lab we believe in optimising your result for greater longevity and skin health. The add on of LED light therapy using the Heallite II is an excellent option to enhance the bodys natural recovery and further enhance the skin rejuvenation effects of the Hydrafacial™ as well as help with acne, congestion, fine lines and more.

We recommend the Healite II for most patients and offer it at a reduced price of only $50 (normally $90) if added to the end of their Hydrafacial.

+ HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?

You will have outstanding results after just one treatment of the Hydrafacial™ however the best results are seen with regular sessions to ensure healthy cell turnover and the removal of damaged cells and impurities. At Youth Lab we recommend 3 initial treatments at monthly intervals for optimal results to refine, refresh and hydrate the skin. For those with more serious skin concerns such as acne and sun damage a course of 6 monthly treatments is recommended. Following the initial treatment course a Hydrafacial™ should be performed every 2-3 months or before any special or red carpet event.

We also recommend other treatment modalities to enhance the results of the Hydrafacial™ including medical grade skin peels, BBL, LED and skin needling. A comprehensive treatment course can be discussed at your consultation with our Dermal Therapist.

+ WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY TREATMENT?

There is no down time after the Hydrafacial™ treatment and patients can go back to work and go about their normal day. There may be some very mild redness that settled down very quickly and some may have some mild flaking for a few days after the treatment. Those with acne prone skin can often experience a purging response and breakout after their first treatment, this is normally self limiting. Normal makeup can be worn immediately afterwards.

For the 3-5 days following treatment we advise the following:

  • Don’t pick at any flaking skin and do not exfoliate or use any abrasive products on the skin
  • Do not use any of your active skin care products including vitamin A, AHAs. It is best to use only bland products such as Cetaphil and QV
  • Ensure your skin remains moisturized and apply regularly
  • Strict sun avoidance and daily SPF 50
  • Avoid heat inducing activities such as vigorous exercise, hot showers, steam rooms for 48 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid any other skin treatments such as BBL/IPL, laser, needling, injectables, waxing for 2 weeks after your treatment

Following the treatment (after resting the skin for 5 days) we recommend continuing with a home care regime of active cosmeceutical ingredients to ensure the longevity of the results and to continue to improve your skin health between treatments.

+ IS THE HYDRAFACIAL SAFE?

Although the treatment is very safe and effective, the treatment cannot be performed on those who are pregnant, have allergies to Salicylates or shellfish, have had facial surgery in the last 12 months, have active facial infections/eczema/rosacea/dermatitis or herpes simplex infection (cold sores), have new sunburn in the treatment area or who are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

We also advise to space the Hydrafacial™ treatment to 2 weeks before or after any other dermal treatment such as BBL/Laser/skin needling or 2 weeks after any cosmetic injectables. Our Dermal Therapists will advise you during your consultation if the treatment is safe for you, and after care instructions will be provided on the day of your treatment.
