2023 Aesthetic Trends: What’s IN and what’s OUT with Nurse Lizzie

Trends come and go, but subtle, natural results are always in. The aesthetics industry is, by nature, always changing and evolving. Every year, we see new treatments, technologies, and techniques emerging to help us, as practitioners, give our clients the best possible results.

As clients, you likely hear about new treatment trends all the time on the grapevine, through social media (we see you there, scrolling TikTok!), or in the media. But how do you sort the wheat from the chaff, and how do you know which treatments are right for you?

Innovative treatments and techniques that are able to enhance and slow the aging process in new ways. At Youth Lab we have an array of treatments varying from skin to injectables on offer.

Popular treatments for 2023

Dermal filler and anti-wrinkle treatments will never go out of style. A lot of patients are wanting more natural results, which is where Youth Lab really delivers. Injectables should be undetectable, they help with shadows and lines which are created as part of the aging process. We have found a lot more patients who desire these results more than overfilling one specific area. When we treat clients, we are still doing 3-4 ml  in these treatments, but are treating patients for full face rejuvenations. They are leaning more towards dermal filler to help with the aging process as they know their results will be natural and subtle.

Clients are really interested in their skincare and treatments, these are always going to be crucial in the aging process. Lately we have found a lot of clients have already got a very strong home-care regime and are more aware, as we used to find a lot of clients missing crucial things such as SPF and active ingredients. A lot of clients are more conscious about the aging process and what they can do at home which is amazing for us to hear as practitioners. Of course if clients have no idea, we are always here to help!

In the past year, I have noticed that male aesthetics have become more and more popular. No longer is there a sole focus on women. Men are seeking treatments to enhance, masculinise and maintain a youthful look. The growing demand for this has allowed us as practitioners to gain more of an understanding specifically in addressing these concerns and treatment specific of male patients. Men are seeking injectable treatments such as jawline contouring and masculinisation as well as skin treatments to assist with the aging process. I can tell you that I am loving this, especially because men aren’t putting such a taboo on them getting treatments. We are able to masculinise facial features that have always been a worry for male clients and boost their confidence as well as of course give them back their youthful glow.

New treatments we are offering

Youth Lab 3D Skin Remodelling System

We have created an exclusive all in one treatment for those clients who are wanting to level up their treatment game…. *drum roll* This treatment is called the 3D Skin Remodelling System. The system allows us to treat the skin at different levels all in one 90 minute session

We are combining BBL photo-rejuvenation, Clearsilk laser and a hybrid laser resurfacing to help improve tone, texture, and fine lines. This treatment will leave your skin feeling smoother, healthier and younger all in one treatment. The elastin and collagen stimulation will continue to improve in the months following the treatment.

The results and longevity will vary. When having treatment on skin that is a veteran when it comes to treatments and has minimal sun damage the results will be evident in as little as one treatment. Whereas those who have just started their treatment journey and are getting used to the wide array of treatments up to 3 treatments may be needed. It is important to have a consultation with one of the practitioners at Youth Lab to ensure you are suitable and to discuss treatment options. Read more about 3D skin remodelling treatment here.

Bio-Remodelling Injections

Although this treatment isn’t new this year, this is the most recent craze that has taken over the world but more specifically Australia in the past 2 years. This product went through a phase of being the most wanted and sought out product. Unfortunately I am unable to name the product specifically due to Australia’s strict guidelines for medications, although you can read more about it here.

This product is known as a bio-remodeller that internally repairs the skin from within consisting of a slow spread of a gel hydrating substance. This injectable treatment doesn’t add any volume to the face, it rejuvenates the skin from the inside out. The trend has captured the name of a ‘glazed donut’ within the aesthetic and beauty social media space.

This treatment stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin as well as preventing the breakdown of fat. You will see an improvement in hydration and overall skin quality giving you that dewy glow. The treatment itself is minimally invasive, consisting of 8 strategically placed injection points in the face leaving a bit of a lump on the skin which can last for 24-48 hours.

This treatment should be repeated twice in an 8 week period with maintenance every 4-6 months of one treatment. It is extremely popular for the face, but it can also be used in other areas such as the neck, decolletage and hands. All medical procedures carry risks which should be discussed during a consultation with one of the medical team before undergoing treatment.

What treatments have I done and am planning for?

I’m sure you can all feel that winter has truly come around faster than we anticipated, although I know some are chasing the heat traveling through Europe (sitting in a sauna is as close as I am getting to feeling the summer heat on my skin). Although I may be missing out on the European summer glow, my skin will definitely be getting some much needed TLC and glow it needs in these cooler months.

I have recently done a yearly HALO treatment, this treatment laser resurfacing is an all rounder – targeting pigment, texture and general aging, best for the cooler months because of the downtime and reduced sun exposure. You can have a look at my treatment journey on my instagram story highlight!

Skin needling is always my go to collagen stimulation treatment, I normally get 3 of these a year for a collagen boost and help with my pores and skin texture.

I try to undergo monthly Hydrafacials and LEDs to keep my skin feeling and looking plump and hydrated giving me that dewy glow.

I make sure I keep my regular anti-wrinkle up to date every 4 months to prevent any deeper set lines and to make me feel fresh. I have noticed my lower face has started to become more of a problem for me of late, not only has my body been going down with gravity post-baby, but my face has been taken down with it. I have been focusing on defining and giving my jawline/chin more structure and support as well as my lateral cheek support to contour and anchor my deeper fat pads down to help support my lower face.

I am going overseas to Bali at the end of the month, so for all those traveling and chasing the heat take my pre vacation holiday glow tip of an AquaGold treatment. This cocktail which we infuse into your skin is a mixture of hydrating dermal filler, anti wrinkle (helps control oil production) as well as an additional booster to target any skin concerns such as pigment, aging, acne or general dullness.

Knowing what’s to come

Aesthetic medicine and treatments continue to develop, new trends are constantly changing the industry and offering patients a wider range of options to look and feel their best. These treatments not only provide natural looking results but also prioritise patient safety while giving an effective tool for patients to aid with the aging process. I know we are all on the edge of our seats waiting to see what new technology and research can offer for the years to come. I’ll keep you posted.
