Forever Clear BBL is an innovative treatment for acne and congested skins, using the power of Broad Band Light therapy to treat the underlying causes of acne, the associated inflammation as well as prevent the recurrence of the condition.

It focuses on the destruction of the acne causing bacteria within this skin as well as calming and controlling the associated inflammation (which causes redness and discomfort).

Following a course of Forever Clear BBL the skin will be less prone to breakouts, clearer and smoother, less angry and inflamed with improved skin tone and color.

Forever Clear BBL is suitable for all skin types and can be used on all parts of the body where acne may be present such as the face, neck, shoulders and back. Large areas can be treated efficiently and comfortably, setting this treatment apart from any other on the market today.

The causes of acne are multifactorial so it is essential that an effective treatment targets all of the causes. Acne is commonly associated with blockages of the pores, excess sebum (oils), inflammation and the presence of P.Acnes bacteria.

This bacteria is normally found in the skin and within the sebaceous glands however in acne and congestion prone skins it overgrows causing damage to the follicles, inflammation and sometimes infection. Once inflammation develops, the degree of acne evolves from minor congestion through to pustules and cysts.

Forever Clear BBL works to take advantage of the effects of light therapy on the P.Acnes bacteria (which produce porphyrins which are sensitive to light). Treatment of the skin with shorter wavelengths (such as 420nm blue light in the BBL) works to destroy the bacteria. Combining this with longer wavelengths (590nm red light) results in deeper penetration into the skin which targets the inflammation.

Considering that P. acnes is rarely present without concomitant inflammation, the treatment combination of blue and red light has demonstrated considerable success in treating mild to severe inflammatory acne.

Forever Clear BBL uses a unique three-step process which is not seen in any other treatment available today:

Step one

The skin is first treated with blue BBL light to eliminate acne-causing bacteria. This step helps  reduce and improve the appearance of active acne as well as prevent new breakouts.

Step two

The skin is then treated with yellow/red BBL light to reduce the inflammation and redness  associated with acne. This step helps resolve active inflammatory acne and reduce scarring.

Step three

The skin is then treated with BBL SkinTyte using visible and infra-red BBL light. This step helps  complement the results of the first two steps.

FAQs

What does the treatment involve?

Prior to the treatment being performed a full consultation with your doctors and dermal clinicians will ensure that Forever Clear BBL is the right treatment for your particular concerns. Once a treatment plan has been determined your eyes will be protected with safety goggles or glasses. The treatment will feel like a warm snap of an elastic band as the light is absorbed by certain areas.

No pain relief is required however topical local anaesthesia may be applied to more sensitive areas. The procedure will take approximately 30 minutes depending on the size of the area that is being treated. The three step process is completed using blue, red and infrared lights over the treatment area.

The procedure is gentle and very safe. The BBL technology is so advanced that the filters can also be used on higher risk skin types (darker skin) where traditional IPL methods have previously been unable to treat due to the risk of adverse effects such as burns and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Occasionally you will be prescribed a lightening cream or skin preparation cream for 2-4 weeks prior to the treatment to ensure your skin is in optimal condition. Treatment of the underlying causes of acne will also be recommended such as appropriate home care products and lifestyle changes. For the best long term results, preparation is key. Sun exposure, tanning and fake tan is to be avoided for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to treatment.

How long do results last?

The number of treatments varies for each individual. A personalised treatment plan will be provided however this can change at any time depending on your response to the treatment. A combination with other treatment methods can also be used to further enhance your results.

Generally the number of treatments needed for improvement in acne and congested skins is 3 to 6 sessions spaced every 2 weeks. Progress will be reviewed after the initial course of 3 treatments and complementary treatments may also be recommended.

What happens after my treatment?

Following the treatment there will be redness and warmth to the skin however many can return to work and their normal activities straight away. Makeup can be applied but it is advised to avoid any excess heat or heavy exercise and sun exposure is to be avoided.

Redness may last a few hours. In many cases there may be an initial “purge” response in the skin with a temporary flare of acne due to deep congestion. Results are dependent on the initial condition of the skin, the number of treatments performed, the areas treated and compliance with after care, lifestyle modifications and home skin care prescription.

Full aftercare instructions will be provided following the treatment.

What are the risks of treatment?

Forever Clear BBL treatment is low risk and due to the advanced technology is now much safer than IPL on higher risk skin types. It is important to note that IPL treatments are not regulated in Australia with cheap and dangerous machines being purchased from overseas and used in beauty salons.

Youth Lab only used scientifically proven medical devices and technologies and you can be assured you will be in safe hands with expert clinicians.

The general down time from Forever Clear BBL treatment is minimal. This may include redness and some localised swelling which will decrease in a few days. Rarer side effects are burns and blistering due to settings being too high and in very rare cases post inflammatory hyper or hypopigmentation which is skin color changes that can last for many months. This can be treated but is understandably distressing.

Attending a clinic where there is medical supervision from doctors ensures the safety of your treatment and the effective treatment of any adverse events.
